Zelda Grant Fabric Artist
Fabric artist and craft book author Zelda Grant, also
known in Atlanta as "The Bag Lady"
for her colorful and creative fabric hand bags, began her career as an
artist at the age
of 10 when doll clothes that she fashioned from her father's socks were
the talk in her
little circle of friends. In May of 2003, a different circle of friends
and admirers, Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., awarded Zelda its Annual Kuumba Tribute - Kuumba
is Kwanzaa's sixth principle and advocates creativity.
Since 1992, Zelda has offered in-school programs through the Georgia Council for the Arts, the South Carolina Arts Commission and Young Audiences of Atlanta, Inc. She has also taught workshops for the Smithsonian Educational Associates (Washington, DC).
